MUST LISTEN: SNSD Ballads

Ballads in general tend to be less popular in Kpop. All the groups that I listened to more or less had very good ballads on their albums. Yes, these songs may not be as colorful as their regular songs might be but there is no reason why any Kpop fan should let them pass by. Here you go, folks. The list of must-listen ballads of SNSD aka the less colorful side of your beloved group. Whenever you’re in the mood, just put your headphones on and hum along. It makes my day so I hope it would make yours too. πŸ™‚

Girls-Generation-pictures-3

These are in order of my most favorite to moderately favorite ones but favorites nonetheless. Seriously, if SNSD got old they could still keep singing ballads because they are such a talented group who do make REAL music. Treat your ears if you never bothered to explore their best pieces.

1) HOW GREAT IS YOUR LOVE (λ΄„λ‚ )

This song has been my utter favorite since the day I listened to it. Its meaning is very beautiful and I can’t get enough of Taeyeon and Jessica’s vocals in this song. The rest of the group also sounds amazingly good.

2) LOST IN LOVE (μœ λ¦¬μ•„μ΄)

While this isn’t an actual SNSD ballad, since it was included in their ‘I Got a Boy’ album it’s okay to include it here (though it would fit better with TTS). Sung by Taeyeon and Tiffany, it has parts where I get goosebumps. The flow and melody is so good that it affects me. it has an amazing start- the chorus and the climax is all brilliantly done. Oh, and I always wonder if it was meant for TaeNy fans especially. πŸ˜‰

3) TIME MACHINE

Although this song is in Japanese, trust me when I say this is the best music video of SNSD yet and their vocals are equally good. While mostly Taeyeon, Jessica, Tiffany, Seohyun and Sunny are the only ones who can be heard it is still too good to let it pass by. I do get peeved by the absence or lack of parts for the other members in this particular song but I get over it as soon as it starts playing. Sad and beautiful are the words I will use to describe it.

4) MISTAKE (λ‚΄ 잘λͺ»μ΄μ£ )

This song starts off very pleasantly with Jessica’s voice. The parts where Sooyoung, Yuri and Hyoyeon maybe among their best ones till date. This song has been one of the best ones from SNSD vocally. Also, the meaning is deep and relatable. It’s my RECOMMEND ballad to listen to.

5) DEAR MOM

If you love your mom, you gotta listen to this one. That’s all I can say. It never fails to fill me with emotions whenever I listen to it.

6) COMPLETE

I remember reading somewhere that this is Jessica’s favorite song. I don’t know if it’s true or not but it definitely is one of my favorites. I can’t convince you to love it as much as I do but it’s worth the listen for all I can say.

7) ALL MY LOVE IS FOR YOU

This is another Japanese song but a great one at that. I love the MVs they came out with for their Japanese ballads. I don’t know why they never release their MVs for Korean ballads. It could give them a more mature image if a similar song came out in South Korea. Anyway, the songs starts off great and the dance moves are good. Watch it for yourself.

8) STAR STAR STAR (별별별)

I think this song isn’t that famous but they did perform it live once. That performance was good. I love the voices of every member in this song, especially Taeyeon and Hyoyeon! No kidding! Hyoyeon’s voice is amazing and that is evident from SNSD’s ballads.

9) FOREVER (μ˜μ›νžˆ λ„ˆμ™€ 꿈꾸고 μ‹Άλ‹€)

I think this is another amazing ballad. I remember Tiffany and Jessica’s parts best from this one. Taeyeon is always amazing so I needn’t mention her. πŸ™‚

10) ROMANTIC STREET (λ‚λ§ŒκΈΈ)

This is the ballad from their latest album. While I think it’s unique it is not their best. Still I think it is worth listening to.

That’s all! This list comprises of most of their songs though not all, because not every song is equally good. These are surely my favorite songs by SNSD and among my all-time in Kpop as well. Don’t miss out on these amazing tracks!

Top 10 Sexiest Females in Kpop

Since being sexy and dressing less is all the rage nowadays, I think a list of sexiest females is necessary. No matter where we look, most girl groups seem to be trying to do the sexy moves. Some fail, some do it well. So who are the sexiest females? Don’t waste another moment and go on to read:

1) NANA

naan

With those long, toned legs and the proportionate body I am sure nobody will disagree that Nana is definitely sexy. Not only is she one heck of a gorgeous female but she is very sexy and oozes a lot of charm. I think there is something different about her which sets her apart from other females in Kpop.

2) BORA

Bora is a member of the group Sistar which has always been criticized for being too sexy. However Bora can definitely pull off the sexy as she showed in both- Sistar and Sistar19 videos. Her figure seems in good shape and her confidence makes even more charming. If I were a guy, Bora would be my ideal type.

3) HYORIN

Another member of SISTAR makes it on the list! I guess the group really is sexy. Hyorin is not your standard skinny Kpop girl. She has a dark, sexy complexion and a curvaceous body which makes her appealing to so many fans. I think together with Bora in Sistar19 they are one of the hottest in the industry right now.

4) SUZY

29

While I always didn’t like the fact that Suzy has always acted MUCH older than she actually is, I can’t deny that she is sexy. She has actually never seemed like she has been forced to act sexy. She has always seemed quite comfortable despite her age. So who am I to object, right?!

5) CL

CL’s solo song of this year earned her the title of the ‘Baddest Female’ and I couldn’t agree less. She has the sass which requires for any one who is trying to be sexy. Whatever CL does, it works. Including being bad because she really does it with spunk.

6) GA IN

Ga In from Brown Eyed Girls is another girl who has never been shy to show off her sexy side. She can be cute and fierce at the same time. She never feels uncomfortable with her image nor does she ever seem like she is trying too hard. That is why her sexiness works.

7) HYOYEON

This member of SNSD is the main dancer. Whenever she takes center stage, you can’t help but be amazed by her. Her charm attracts people to her and ability to rock on the dance floor makes her one of the sexiest in Kpop.

8) HYUNA

While I may not find her to be the sexiest, it wouldn’t be fair if she wasn’t given a rank on the list. I understand why she is seen as the sexiest in Kpop (or so her fans claim) but for me she is just sexy not the sexiest. There is something wrong with her videos and of what I’ve seen her. She is naturally sexy and may not need to try THAT hard to show it. Maybe if her moves were toned down a little she would appear naturally sexy and not forcibly so bordering on cheap it would gain her more fans.

9) AILEE

ailee1

I don’t know why, but I’ve always found Ailee to be sexy. She isn’t extraordinary but she makes herself look good in every possible way when she performs on stage. Her enigma and energy draws people to her and that in my opinion makes her sexy. Plus this proves that one can actually be sexy without taking their clothes off.

10) YURI

A lot of online forum discussions reach the conclusion that Yuri is the sexiest in Kpop. I have to say it again- she is sexy but not necessarily the sexiest. I see Yuri as more of a confident pretty female with sexy moves. So yes, she is sexy and hence gets placed on this list.

What do you guys think? Who are the sexiest females according to you?

REVIEW: 2NE1’s ‘Do You Love Me’ & Ladies Code ‘Hate You’

This week has been very happy and exciting for me. Not only did I get to listen to two of my favorite Kpop group’s comeback singles, I also loved them both. Here are my thoughts:

  • LADIES CODE

I only became a fan of Ladies Code the past month when I was searching for any good upcoming rookies. No way! They don’t deserve to be called as rookies (even though they are). They are amazingly talented and give most Kpop groups a run for their talent. In case you don’t know who they are, I definitely recommend listening to their debut single first. The song ‘Bad Girl’ was catchy and upbeat. Their MV was cool and their sass really worked. I haven’t seen such good professionalism from any rookie groups so far.

What’s more great is that they can ACTUALLY sing live well and dance properly. They haven’t tried to be overly sexy or overly cute till now so this makes them more appealing and fresher in the entire Kpop scene right now.

Their second single is ‘Hate You’. Here’s the MV:

CONCEPT & STYLE: This was excellent. I don’t ever recall watching a video with creepy dolls in any Kpop MV till date. Their concept is highly original and new. The video is about hating and loving some one so much that it makes you crazy. That is what the girls are trying to depict in the entire sequence.

VOCALS: I personally love the vocals of Ladies Code. The girls can all sing and have unique voices. Their sound is quite good and the use of guitar in the song works wonders for them.

CONCLUSION: Strong comeback and I predict future success for the group. If this amazing rookie group goes down like most rookies do, I would be very disappointed and surprised. I believe talent always gets recognized- sooner or later. And right now we are in the state where we find more disappointing artists coming up rather than the ones we can look forward to.

OVERALL RATING: 4/5

  • 2NE1

I haven’t really read the feedback fans have given for 2NE1’s latest song. If you haven’t watched the video yet, do it here:

CONCEPT & STYLE: It’s the second womanly video by 2NE1. They have been promoting the cool-chicks-havin-a-good-time-in-summer image. I think it suits them really well. I love the video. It’s new, it’s creative and seems good when 2NE1’s styles have changed without really changing. I think any Blackjack would appreciate the new style they’ve adopted. I’m particularly happy with CL’s look. She looks really pretty in the video (so does every one else). She’s always the tough one of their group and it’s fun seeing her a bit relaxed, you know- in the typical summer mood.

VOCALS: Strong vocals by every one. It was a treat listening to Dara getting to sing more than she normally does. I think the focus from Bom has been sort of divided recently. Bom never disappoints me when it comes to singing and I love her strong range here too. CL’s good as always and Minzy just does her thang, yo! I love 2NE1 as artists.

CONCLUSION: Definitely, one of their strongest tracks ever released. The video will probably go down into the list of Best Kpop Summer Songs of all time. You just can’t help but sing along or hum along by the very first listen. The track is appealing and captivating.

OVERALL RATING: 4/5

That’s all guys! If you ever need reviews of MVs or feedbacks don’t be shy to mention that in the comments! I’ll be happy to take any requests. πŸ™‚
