Ballads in general tend to be less popular in Kpop. All the groups that I listened to more or less had very good ballads on their albums. Yes, these songs may not be as colorful as their regular songs might be but there is no reason why any Kpop fan should let them pass by. Here you go, folks. The list of must-listen ballads of SNSD aka the less colorful side of your beloved group. Whenever you’re in the mood, just put your headphones on and hum along. It makes my day so I hope it would make yours too. π
These are in order of my most favorite to moderately favorite ones but favorites nonetheless. Seriously, if SNSD got old they could still keep singing ballads because they are such a talented group who do make REAL music. Treat your ears if you never bothered to explore their best pieces.
1) HOW GREAT IS YOUR LOVE (λ΄λ )
This song has been my utter favorite since the day I listened to it. Its meaning is very beautiful and I can’t get enough of Taeyeon and Jessica’s vocals in this song. The rest of the group also sounds amazingly good.
2) LOST IN LOVE (μ 리μμ΄)
While this isn’t an actual SNSD ballad, since it was included in their ‘I Got a Boy’ album it’s okay to include it here (though it would fit better with TTS). Sung by Taeyeon and Tiffany, it has parts where I get goosebumps. The flow and melody is so good that it affects me. it has an amazing start- the chorus and the climax is all brilliantly done. Oh, and I always wonder if it was meant for TaeNy fans especially. π
3) TIME MACHINE
Although this song is in Japanese, trust me when I say this is the best music video of SNSD yet and their vocals are equally good. While mostly Taeyeon, Jessica, Tiffany, Seohyun and Sunny are the only ones who can be heard it is still too good to let it pass by. I do get peeved by the absence or lack of parts for the other members in this particular song but I get over it as soon as it starts playing. Sad and beautiful are the words I will use to describe it.
4) MISTAKE (λ΄ μλͺ»μ΄μ£ )
This song starts off very pleasantly with Jessica’s voice. The parts where Sooyoung, Yuri and Hyoyeon maybe among their best ones till date. This song has been one of the best ones from SNSD vocally. Also, the meaning is deep and relatable. It’s my RECOMMEND ballad to listen to.
5) DEAR MOM
If you love your mom, you gotta listen to this one. That’s all I can say. It never fails to fill me with emotions whenever I listen to it.
6) COMPLETE
I remember reading somewhere that this is Jessica’s favorite song. I don’t know if it’s true or not but it definitely is one of my favorites. I can’t convince you to love it as much as I do but it’s worth the listen for all I can say.
7) ALL MY LOVE IS FOR YOU
This is another Japanese song but a great one at that. I love the MVs they came out with for their Japanese ballads. I don’t know why they never release their MVs for Korean ballads. It could give them a more mature image if a similar song came out in South Korea. Anyway, the songs starts off great and the dance moves are good. Watch it for yourself.
8) STAR STAR STAR (λ³λ³λ³)
I think this song isn’t that famous but they did perform it live once. That performance was good. I love the voices of every member in this song, especially Taeyeon and Hyoyeon! No kidding! Hyoyeon’s voice is amazing and that is evident from SNSD’s ballads.
9) FOREVER (μμν λμ κΏκΎΈκ³ μΆλ€)
I think this is another amazing ballad. I remember Tiffany and Jessica’s parts best from this one. Taeyeon is always amazing so I needn’t mention her. π
10) ROMANTIC STREET (λλ§κΈΈ)
This is the ballad from their latest album. While I think it’s unique it is not their best. Still I think it is worth listening to.
That’s all! This list comprises of most of their songs though not all, because not every song is equally good. These are surely my favorite songs by SNSD and among my all-time in Kpop as well. Don’t miss out on these amazing tracks!
